Downtonians in the US got a belated Christmas present this week from the iTunes store…or at least that’s Apple’s story.
If you purchase the season three, season pass for “Downton Abbey,” you’ll get to see the final three episodes before they air on PBS. That’s January 29th, to be precise.
Yes, that noise you just heard was a scoff from our fellow Downtonians across the pond, who have already viewed the entire season…plus the Christmas Special.
That slightly louder throat clearing came from the true US Dowtonites (I think I like that name better), who know full well that season three comes out on Blu-ray and DVD the 29th and is by no means, an Apple “exclusive.”
And swallowed chortle came from the US fanatics who could ruin some major season three plot points for you.
The moral of the story? The UK should really let the US audience watch “Downton Abbey” at the same time. It’s getting really confusing, we can’t remember who’s seen what. Even Apple can’t keep it straight.
