Sometimes You Just Know

Posted on the 11 November 2013 by Skip1957 @skip1957
When I met my  wife, over 35 years ago, I knew, that she was the one. I'm not saying we didn't have our moments, but I knew, she was the one. She put up with my shit, I put up with hers, although hers, seemed a lot less complicated then mine.

Right there, says a lot, because often, we tend to complicate things, when they aren't. We never complicated things, we just took each day, as it came. We never fought about stupid shit, for instance, like money.Well, we never had a lot of money. We fought about things that mattered. Like family. Our children, were always our biggest concern. She was never as strict as I was. Not that it's a bad thing, just one of our issues.

Our kids are all grown up now, and they have families of their own. They have made their way, and I'm proud of them. They were brought up with a strict work ethic, and they stick to it. I'd put anyone up against them as far as their work ethic goes.

Another thing I tried to instill in them, was that family comes first. Too many people see dollar signs, before they see where they came from. I don't care if you were brought up in a mansion, or the local trailer park, we are all the same as people, but as individuals, we make our own way.

Let me give you an example of what I mean. You can go to a funeral, and it can be of a family member. They could have been the biggest asshole you ever met, in real life, and while you are there amongst the mourners, all you hear, is how nice they were, they died before their time, and they will be missed.
Well, I knew them when they were alive. They were mean, they sucked the life out of those around them, and many times, they lived off of the coat tails of their parents, who, actually did add some value to the human condition. So, WHY, were they any better, when they died, then when they were actually alive?, Because they weren't!

Some of us, are very lucky in our little journey through life. We find that one person, that, I know it sounds like a cliche, but the one that completes us.

I'm not sure so much if they complete us,so much as they make us content, and comfortable. If you are as lucky as I have been, then, you know what I mean. Many don't. They go searching day in and day out, have kids that don't know them, have wife, husband, they eventually wake up, and wonder who they really are.
When it comes down to it, life isn't all that complicated, just sometimes, you have to actually put an effort into it.
They say fools rush in, you know, sometimes that isn't as bad as it sounds............... maybe I'll write a little about that later on.  BB84CBJNBGNM
