…Spell It Out

Posted on the 06 August 2014 by Zer @the2women

scrabble-tilesIt’s a good day for the perpetually stumped Scrabble player, the original tile spelling game is expanding its lexicon by more than 5000 words. No longer will you be limited to the more than 100,000 words already included in the Scrabble dictionary.

Yes, there’s an official Scrabble dictionary, compiled and maintained by Merriam-Webster. So don’t try and cheat with some unofficial Oxford English or Dictionary.com.

So what are these exciting new additions?

Well, they range from the modern vernacular (i.e. — frenemy, bromance, selfie) to the bizarre (i.e. — coqui, qajaq…a small arboreal frog, and a kayak…respectively). Plus there’s some that you would assume were already included (ie — da, mojito).

On that note, I’ll leave you to C-H-I-L-L-A-X as you plot your Scrabble B-U-Z-Z-K-I-L-L takedown of your F-R-E-N-E-M-Y, and other opponents…it’s probably a good thing the game doesn’t require that you use these words in a sentence.
