Spring break’s over and it’s time to go back to work. I didn’t take much of a spring break – since my husband was working, I was in the office pretty much every day, though I did take off early to noodle around with food photography and some new recipe ideas, clean up the house, throw out and donate a bunch of stuff in preparation for downsizing, and read a couple books, but that’s the norm. Here’s where it gets fun {and photo-heavy, so I apologize for all the pictures in advance}.
I also hosted a charity barbecue fundraiser with friends on behalf of the Run for Autism. Between the barbecue and running the New York City Half Marathon, I raised over $1400 for the Organization for Autism Research. The 21 folks racing for OAR raised $30,000!
My office mate’s kids drew posters to support our tailgate
I attended designer Amsale’s special salon event as part of the Martha Stewart Bridal Advisory Board. Champagne, hors d’oeuvres, cake, makeup, gorgeous dresses, event planning tips and strategies, and wonderful people! Amidst all the brides to be, I also met some great wedding photographers, beauticians, health consultants, event planners, designers, and social media experts ready to share the tricks of the trade!

My husband and I took part in the New York City Half Marathon Expo, the pre-race lunch with members of OAR, and the pre-race dinner with friends and faculty in my department who are running for Friends4Michael, a charity started by a member of our department that supports the families of children suffering from brain tumors. Oh, and I ran the New York City half marathon.
We followed up the half marathon by hanging out in Charity Village, listening to Shilelagh Law lay down some Irish tunes in honor of St. Patrick’s Day and kicking back a couple cold ones with the OAR crew and the F4M team. And I wasn’t feeling like cooking after the half marathon, so we joined a bunch of friends for dinner at our local German restaurant {we weren’t Irished out – they had really delicious shepherd’s pie and green beer}.
I would say I’m not bragging, but…yeah, I’m bragging. I’m pleased as punch. I got to do some really cool stuff and hang out with some really cool people over this break, but to be perfectly honest, I have to give some major kudos to Mackenzie Horan of Design Darling and her 101 in 1001 list. She inspired me to make my list, and without my list, I wouldn’t be involved in all this great stuff. If you haven’t thought about listing out some serious goals for yourself, whether you make one or a hundred and one, do it. You’ll be amazed at the results! And I also have to give huge thanks to my husband for supporting me in all of these crazy endeavors. If he weren’t on board, all of this stuff wouldn’t happen.
