Heading into the second week of June, we are just about through the thick of graduation season. And as we come to the close of the time of the commencement speech, I can think of no better #MondayMotivation.
So, to start your week off right, here are some of my favorite commencement speeches from the 2016 graduation season. May they guide you this week and beyond. And congratulations to the class of 2016!
“Here in America, we don’t give in to our fears. We don’t build up walls to keep people out because we know that our greatness has always depended on contributions from people who were born elsewhere but sought out this country and made it their home.”
First Lady Michelle Obama
“Turn toward the problems that you see. You have to engage.”
Matt Damon
“Your stories are essential. Don’t believe me?
In a year when politicians traffic in anti-immigrant rhetoric, there is also a Broadway musical reminding us that a broke, orphan immigrant from the West Indies built our financial system. A story that reminds us that since the beginning of the great unfinished symphony that is our American experiment, time and time again, immigrants get the job done.”
Lin-Manuel Miranda
