Tonight we’re all presented with another opportunity to make our high school civics teachers proud and be good upstanding engaged citizens.
I am of course referring to the partisan aerobics workout (I swear it’s like the wave with all the standing and clapping) that is the State of the Union.
I won’t pretend to be an expert on what President Obama will discuss this evening, and while I love my country I’m not exactly a flag waver (if you know what I mean), and to be honest most politics make me want to pull my hair out. That’s precisely why we have to stay informed.
So, this is your official 2WC guilt trip to watch tonight’s State of the Union Address. It will be painful at times, no matter what side of the aisle you sit, but just know that you’re being a good American, and suck it up.
All I’m saying is if the guy from Duck Dynasty can attend in person (I’m sure that’s in no way a publicity stunt) then you can take an hour or two out of your schedule to educate yourself on the incredibly divisive state of our union. It’ll be good for you.
