Since the invention of online streaming, and the later introduction original programming to this medium, the line between television and our personal and increasingly mobile devices has become increasingly blurred.
Today, that line all but disappeared, when Yahoo and Microsoft announced plans to create their own original programs.
Yahoo has plans to introduce four new shows. While, Microsoft has names such as Seth Green, Michael Cera and Sarah Silverman working on their programs. On top of that, they also have a Speilberg directed series based on the popular video game, “Halo.”
I’ll give you a moment to deal with your shock and possible outrage. After all, what right do Microsoft and Yahoo have barging into the world of original and binge-viewing programs. They should be focused on perfecting their search engines and providing customer support to those still trying to figure out Vista.
Okay, now some perspective — Google is currently working on developing a driverless car (true story: “The Atlantic” ). So, maybe original programming isn’t too big of a stretch…plus it sounds a whole lot safer.
