Is this a spoiled kitten or what?

I’ve enjoyed spending the weekend with my husband and my in-laws down in beautiful {mostly} sunny Florida this weekend, and I have to say, it’s definitely the most relaxing weekend I’ve spent in a while! We’ve been either adventuring or moving pretty continuously lately, so it was a very welcome change to spend a weekend {again, mostly} just hanging around the house. We did have a couple little adventures, which I’ll share with you the next couple of days, but for the most part, it was just a quiet weekend at home!

So here’s what’s going on at the moment :)

Currently…

In…Florida. Specifically, Kissimmee. More specifically, in my in-laws’ sunroom, trying to type around the cat in my lap who thinks the computer is an extension of her pillow and watching the other cat who will never be satisfied with {and yes, I really missed our fuzzy little twerps}.

Reading…Heist by Janet Evanovich and Lee Goldberg. Castle meets Ocean’s Eleven. Totally unbelievable and improbable but better and wittier than I’d expected picking it up. I’d just wanted a bit of brain candy in between all these piles of strategic doctrine I’ve been having to read lately. And I just have to both praise and complain about one great line in their authors’ note: “And yes, we know there aren’t any female Navy SEALS. But we think there should be.” Me, too, but I would have preferred that really being necessary to contribute to the plot or to the character. Yes, she’s a badass, but we have badass girls in the service already! It’s not just the SEALs who get all the fun.

Writing…an alternatives analysis white paper for class. Doesn’t that sound boring? It’s actually not. I’m contrasting several different ideas for staying current on technology. Do we outsource too much? Is our research too far behind to carry us? What combination works best? Will anyone ever see it? Maybe, maybe not, but it’s getting my brain going. This course, while it was slow to start, has actually really gotten me thinking.

Listening…to the lake outside, to the rustle of wind and the light summer rain, to the cat purring, to the clack and clatter of the keys {and that’s honestly one of my least favorite sounds!}, and to my mother-in-law making coffee inside.

Thinking…that not only am I lucky to have stumbled into an awesome husband, but I’m very lucky to have such a wonderful family-in-law. They’re the warmest, most welcoming people.

Smelling…coffee. Florida humidity. Rain. The magnolia blooming.

Wishing…I could stay.

Hoping…that the next couple of weeks go quickly, that I can be productive and not waste the time, that my husband and I do a good job of staying in touch and supporting each other, and…well, mostly that the next couple of weeks go quickly!

Wearing…new shorts and shirt from my outlet shopping excursion with my mother-in-law last Friday. Let’s hear it for Fourth of July sales!

Loving…my husband. My family – well, both my families. Life.

Wanting…coffee. With all the time we spent at the pool and Typhoon Lagoon this weekend, I’m so sleepy! There’s something about swimming that just takes the energy right out of you!

Needing…to solidify our plans for taking care of the cats – my in-laws have a couple important trips to make and won’t be able to watch them the whole duration of their quarantine period. To solidify our plans for getting the rest of our stuff moved and closing out of Virginia. To just be done with moving!

Feeling…a little at loose ends. I hate being in limbo, and we’ve been moving and traveling since May. While I love traveling and adventures, and while I’m good at planning things on the fly, it’s hard work!

Clicking…all my favorite blogs on Bloglovin’ – I’m doing a lousy job of keeping up on all the news. I follow so many blogs, everything from science and networking blogs to business blogs to personal blogs to fashion blogs, and I always feel like I get so much from the discussions, as much or even more than I get from the posts!

What’s on your mind, currently?
