…swing Away

…swing awayThis weekend, crusaders, golf fans around the world have their eyes on Augusta, Georgia as the sports’ greatest take to the greens for the green jacket at the 2017 Masters Tournament.

Golf has long been referred to as “a gentleman’s game,” once that was very literal, as only men of a certain class were allowed to grace the greens, now it’s a nod to the dignity and honesty expected of its participants. Yes, golf is as much about strength of character as it is about swing count. While Augusta national will be crawling with judges, ruling on ball placement, and making sure no rule is broken, most everyday players are bound by their own moral code (…and patience).

Much has been said over the last few months on the sport (not necessarily in the best of lights), but regardless of the man or woman playing (and/or how frequently they play), the saying remains true, “You can learn a lot about a man (or woman) on a golf course.” But I’ll add this:  You can learn even more from their Tweets shaming others for spending too much time playing golf, only to then yourself exceed those “others” in time spent on the golf course.

But I digress, this weekend is for the love of the game, the history of the tournament, and the long semiconscious naps that come with it. Happy Masters’ Weekend to one and all.
