Happy World Emoji Day! These modern pictograms have come a long way, and I'm not talking about the fact that we're supposedly getting ginger emoji this year. I'll believe it when I can iMessage it.
Once thought of as merely icing on the messaging cake, the power of emojis is starting to be appreciated.
If you don't know what that is, then you've probably never received a text whose tone and meaning can only deciphered by the 🤩 or 🤐. Just a heads up, you're probably also guilty of sending vague, indecipherable texts.
The point is that simple, well-placed emoji have the power to turn an entire day around (or at least a text message). Even the infamous, single-letter response looks far less ominous with an emoji next to it - k😎.
Like any language (new or old), not everyone has the lingo down. There have been more than a few misplaced 😂,😉,and 🙄...not to mention emojis of the vegetable variety.
Whether you're fluent or still learning, we can all appreciate the beautiful simplicity that emoji have brought to our ability to communicate. After all, emoji-for better or for worse-transcend language barriers. Which on most days, and especially World Emoji Day, is a good thing.💕
