Tablet Testing From Buy As You View

Posted on the 10 June 2013 by Buyasyouview @BuyAsYouView

Following on from last week’s blog article that looked at the Apple range currently on offer from Buy As You View, we are now moving on to discussing the features and benefits of the Samsung Galaxy Tablet 2 – 7” and 10”, as well as our entry level offering, the Archos 10” Tablet.

Whilst Apple has been top dog in the tablet technology market for some time now with the iPad and iPad Mini, Samsung have been working hard to catch up and now has 7” and 10” Galaxy 2 tablets on the market, available for considerably less and yet still packed with great features!

The main benefit of the 7” tablet is that for its size, it has an impressive battery life and will last for 11 hours whilst playing games and surfing the Internet.

Samsung Galaxy Tablet 7 inch

Handbag size, light and portable!

The interface is incredibly easy to use, so if you have any young children who enjoy playing on your phone apps, this is the ideal choice.

The tablet has a front and rear camera, and produces clear, crisp images and videos for all you amateur photographers out there!  It has an 8GB memory but if that isn’t enough for you, you can expand the memory via a micro SD card. There are also lots of useful features included with the Samsung Galaxy 7” tablet including power saving, task managers and Google voice recognition software, allowing you to speak instead of type (which works surprisingly well!). It’s perfect for fitting into a small bag and being your online companion when you’re out and about (as it only weighs 344g). The smaller size makes it easy to read with just one hand, which is great for anyone that likes to read for extended periods of time.

It uses the Android 4.0 operating system and has a 3 megapixel rear camera as well as a VGA front camera for video calling. It also has audio playback, Bluetooth 3, USB 2.0 and an 8GB memory. Backing up the processor is a healthy 1GB RAM and a 1GHz dual core processor.  The tablet also comes with preloaded software including; AllShare, Amazon Kindle, ChatON; Dropbox, Game Hub, Media Hub, Memo, Netflix, Polaris Office, Readers Hub, S Planner, Samsung Apps, Smart Remote and Screensaver.

So, on to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, 10” tablet…

Samsung Galaxy 2 Tablet 10 inch

Great for gaming, movies, apps and social networking!

It’s easy to assume that any 10” tablet will focus on the delivery of media (video, games etc.) and this is certainly true for this larger, more robust tablet. The 10” (1280×800) screen provides you with a decent size display to view all your favorite videos, images, games and social networks.

The main differences between the 7” and the 10” Samsung tablets are simply size, battery life, memory and the preloaded software. The battery life does last an impressive 14 hours; so on long car journeys, you’ll really feel the benefit if you’ve got children that need entertaining, however the larger size does make it slightly harder to fit in to your bag and at 10”, it won’t just slip in to your back pocket!  On the flip side, having the larger screen increases the ability to view text and images with clarity. The memory size is double that of the 7” so if you are a downloader this may be a key factor for you to consider.  The preloaded software is predominantly identical, with the addition of Next Issues and S Suggest.

The final product to consider is our Archos 502126 G10 Tablet. Archos have really pushed technological boundaries with the new and innovative Archos G10 tablet and for an entry level product, it packs a big punch.  It enables users to make their own decision on whether to use as a tablet or a laptop as the result of its unique, ultra-thin, magnetic Coverboard which protects it as well as enabling you to type on a proper keyboard! The keyboard also acts as a dock.

Archos Arnova Tablet

Comes with a magnetic Coverboard which gives you a full keyboard – so it’s a tablet and laptop in one!

The magnetic Coverboard really is ahead of the game.  If you enjoy using a tablet, yet fumble with the touch screen keyboard, the Archos G10 tablet is the right purchase for you.  The Coverboard holds perfectly to the tablet with magnets then slides away to reveal a full keyboard (QWERTY).  This has the added benefit of freeing up your screen space too!

The Archos tablet itself has less battery life than the Samsung products at 8 hrs, and when docked, the Coverboard is also powered by the tablet.

If you enjoy game playing you will love The Archos G10 tablet. It comes with tailor-made Media Centre apps bringing HD video and full access to Google Play which has over 600 000 apps and games. It also comes with Full Office App, which includes Office Suite Pro 6 pre-installed, allowing you to view, create, edit, print and share Word, Excel and PowerPoint files as-well as open attachments and see PDF files. The 1280×800 pixel screen also means that your docs, apps and media will always look great. The Archos tablet is definitely our favorite here at Buy As You View and at £4.99 per week*, it’s also great value. Take a look at our full range of tablets to decide which is best for you and your family but we hope that the reviews we’ve provided over the past 2 weeks have been useful and have helped you along the way!

Happy surfing!
