Well, after a week of Tony talk, we’re taking our final bow. Last night, as expected, “Hamilton” took home the top prize for Best New Musical, as well 10 additional Tonys (two shy of breaking the record).
They didn’t break any records, but they sure did blow us all away. On a more personal note, they also helped me guess my way to a perfect 10 for 10 on my Tony picks (so, thanks!).
On a more universal note, they “Hamilton” was a large part of all four musical acting categories going to people of color. It was the first time it’s happened ever.
While for most of us, last night might seem to have changed our lives very little. We woke up this morning, and it was just like any normal Monday.
Which maybe the history making events of last night will have very little impact on the world as a whole, but I like to think they’ll at least have a lasting impact on those who witnessed them. I guess we can only hope.
