…Take A Break

toastygenericbeachIn a tight economy certain sacrifices have to be made.  Belts have to be tightened and budgets trimmed.  However, it seems like we may be taking it too far.

Vacations are being cut back too.

According to a new survey, Americans are using two fewer vacation days than last year.  This is on top of already having two fewer to use.

Top reasons for not using vacation days are “fear of being replaced” and “too much work.”

If these are legitimate fears, you might want to consider looking for a new job.  Using vacation days given to you by your employer shouldn’t threaten your job security.

It seems we’ve confused vacation with laziness.

Work is an important part of life, but leisure and relaxation are equally important.

Believe it or not, time away from work is an essential part of being productive at work.

That doesn’t mean you have to plan some budget busting extravaganza trip to the Caribbean, but maybe consider taking a few days off for some family or even some “me” time.

Something to think about as we make our way through one of the most wonderful and stressful times of the year.
