…Take A Step Back

Science has done it again!

What is this it and why the exclamation point? Well, I’ll let you decide.

Researchers in Spain have reconstructed the structure of 4-billion-year-old proteins.

Or to put it another way, they’ve resurrected one of the building blocks of the world we now live in.

Why?

It turns out that no one actually knows how we went from primordial soup to, well, now. Of course, the only way to really find out would be to travel back in time…and don’t even get the nerds started on all the paradoxes and catastrophic consequences of time travel.

So resurrecting one of the worlds creators seems like a pretty good (and safe) way to get some answers.

Unless you consider the countless examples of where it went horribly wrong—Mary Shelley’s “Frankenstein”, every zombie movie ever made, and “Jurassic Park”…to name a few.

We better hope this prehistoric protein isn’t too displeased with its creations (we did wake it up from a 3 billion year nap), or develop a taste for human flesh.

I’m sure there’s some clever connection to my blog topic, but does there need to be one?
