In the midst of another testosterone-dominated blockbuster summer movie season, yesterday’s box office numbers brought a welcome reprieve.
This weekend’s two big films “Lucy” and “Hercules,” went head-to-head on Friday night, and for a refreshing change of pace, the film with a female lead came out ahead.
“Lucy,” starring Scarlett Johansson, brought in just over $17 million, while “Hercules” came in at about $11 million.
True, it may only prove that Scarlett Johansson is a bigger box office draw than Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, which isn’t exactly a surprise. But that’s still at least a little encouraging, right?
