With all hopes of a quick World Series victory dashed, it’s time for the Cardinals to reclaim the lead in game 5 tonight.
Now is not the time to panic, but to come together and gather around a single rally cry—Take It Back!
Okay, it’s not as catchy as “We Believe” or other postseason slogans, but hear me out.
So, what are we taking back?
Well, literally, we’re taking back the lead. Metaphorically, we’re taking back our pride and rightful place in baseball history.
You may or may not have noticed during game 3 that two attacks were made on the Cardinal nation: 1) The idiot who threw a ball onto the field while Holliday was making a catch. 2) The individual who threw back Pujols’ third homerun ball of the night.
To the first, we say, “Really?”.
To the second, “It’s too bad you didn’t want that baseball that helped Pujols tie Reggie Jackson and Babe Ruth as the only players to hit three home runs in a single World Series game. Oh, and it also represents Pujols tying World Series single game records for most hits and RBIs. Wait, Pujols also broke the record for total bases in a single World Series game with that homerun. So, I guess what we really want to say is,’Thanks.’”
And to the Cardinals fans out there, let’s take it back!
