Happy Pride Weekend!
For those of you unfamiliar with this annual celebration, welcome to the 21st century. This weekend is all about celebrating the LGBTQ community…which means a lot.
That means taking heart in how far the world has come and accepting that there’s still work to be done.
It’s about striving for a world where those who are different from the “norm” aren’t just allowed to exist on the edge of society, out of sight and out of mind, but are truly accepted as fellow humans with equal rights and value.
It’s also about reaching out to those who would condemn or shame those who are different from them based on fear or lack of understanding.
Most of all, it’s about spreading the love. There’s enough hate in this world without us condemning those we see as different. We have more in common than some might lead you to believe.
On that note, I’ll leave you to celebrate Pride in your own way. Be safe, have fun, and be kind.
