Taste Tuesdays: Pub 29

Posted on the 17 May 2011 by Shawndrarussell
Pub 29, named for the shared birthday date of two of the three owners, opened yesterday at the intersection of 66th and Paulsen in Midtown Savannah. Gary and I went because our friend is one of the owners, and we wanted to show support and check it out. It is tucked away in a corner with a great open kitchen, bumper pool table, dart boards, and best of all, yummy food. The interior is exposed ceiling, with black piping, some chrome accents, and hanging glass racks which I always think looks cool and decorative. We each ordered a wrap accompanied by onion rings--he the Mediterranean which was gyro meat with a creamy sauce, served on a spinach tortilla, and I got the Cali wrap--by far the best wrap I have had in Savannah--with ham, a delicious tangy sauce, and loads of veggies. The onion rings had a great flavor with a nice sweetness though I like mine a tad crispier. We will definitely be back to try the pizza (available for carry-out too!) and wings and the other selection of about 10 other carefully presented and created wraps. Oh, and they also have about 10 beers on tap with some yummy options like Brooklyn Lager, Strongbow, and of course, Guinness. Great food, casual atmosphere, and good beer? I'm in.
