…Tell the Story of Tonight

Tonight the Peggy Tour of, "Hamilton," opens on the 262nd birthday of the musical's namesake and inspiration. To put it another way, this runaway hit is about to drop "in the middle of a forgotten spot in the Caribbean." Although, for the next two weeks (at least) Puerto Rico is very much not forgotten.

For the next two weeks, the shows creator and original cast member, Lin-Manuel Miranda, will step back into the title role or Alexander Hamilton. It's an event that is drawing attention, tourists, and much need funds to an island that is still recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Maria.

For those who might need a quick refresh, this massive storm completely devastated Puerto Rico in September 2017. It wiped out the power grid, destroyed entire communities, and had a death toll in the thousands.

Those are just some of the reasons that all of "Hamilton" Puerto Rico's proceeds are going to help with hurricane recovery efforts. It's a nice reminder of the power of the arts and, well, the juggernaut that is "Hamilton." Plus, it seems poetic that a show inspired by a son of the Caribbean is now paying back that corner of the world.

To the cast, break legs. To those lucky enough to witness this moment, enjoy it. And to those just watching from afar, you can join in by donating here.
