The Baroness Recommends....

Comic books! Yep you read right. Comic books...how awesome is that!
On Tuesday's live interview regarding the importance of reading (if you have no idea what I am talking about read this first) Baroness Floella Benjamin when asked what good modern books are out there that parents should encourage their children to read suggested comic books as a viable option. 
Right then and there I think my heart skipped a little beat. Seriously, it is about time people championed the awesomeness of comic books and how engaging they are for children (and adults) with the artwork and script in easy sizablechunks (with usually excellent content). There is a bit of a stigma regarding comics, some people think that because a comic book/graphic novel is made up of mostly artwork and speech bubbles that it should not be counted as a proper book. So hearing her include comics along with other styles of books was refreshing. Baroness F you are my kinda woman!
