The Beast from the East

Posted on the 04 February 2012 by Alison @AlStaples
Blimey - it's a bit parky today.
I reliable indicator that winter is finally here, is Tris succumbing to running tights instead of shorts. For me, it's all about whether or not I wear socks in bed!
The 'Beast from the East' is finally here, bringing with it -11 degrees and for us, the promise of snow.
Wrap up warm - wear a vest if you have one. Don't go out in heels unless you want a broken ankle, make sure you are fully tooled up with anti-freeze and be prepared to have a flat battery. Don't call the AA because they are currently getting over 1,700 calls per hour!
If and when we do get snow up here in MancLand, I'll be enjoying it while it's all white and fluffy and beautiful and no doubt cursing it when it gets hard and icy.
My father tells me I was born in a blizzard - which isn't strictly true. I was born in The Northern General Hospital in Sheffield. However, the point is that this should be my kind of weather.
It's not!
Ever since taking a rather painful tumble in the playground on a skiddy, icy slide, I've been very cautious. Dancing on Ice is one reality TV programme you could never get me on. Do I look like a penguin?
Don't answer that!
So here are a couple of lovely pictures to remind us that snow isn't all bad .....

This final picture, contrary to what you might think, isn't the Alps - it was actually taken over Somerset on Wednesday from our flight back from Barcelona. Brrrrrrrrr!
