The Bomb Dot Com…

Posted on the 17 March 2013 by Drowqueen @theburnedhand

So tonight my husband and I did something we have never done.  We worked at a wine expo booth.  One of our favorite VA wineries asked for help, and we said sure.  I was a tad nervous at first because we have never worked one of these before, but since we pretty much knew all of their wines by heart, we decided to do it.  The surprising thing is that if you knew my husband, you never would have thought he would do this.  When the doors first opened, you could tell that people had mapped out their plan.  It started to pick up about 30 minutes into it, and then it never stopped.  There were non-stop people at the booth and by the second hour, my husband and I had worked a routine out.  Knowing he is shy and doesn’t project his voice like I do, I had him pour for me while I discussed the wines.  The owner was at the cash register and her daughter and son-in-law were doing the other tastings.  At different points, we started to get into a good rhythm and could tell when they needed a break.  I had no idea how tired I would be after standing on my feet for so long.

Towards the end of the event, the people who visited the booth were, ummm, quite happy.  Some appeared to be three sheets to the wind.  I was taking a break and letting my husband do the talking when a large group of women approached.  I wasn’t really paying attention to what they were saying as I was talking to the owner.  Now mind you, we were drinking water and/or Gatorade.  It was mentioned to me that perhaps I should go help my husband out as he wasn’t able to get a word in edgewise.  The women were apparently asking him if he was married, staring at his blue eyes, and telling him he was “thebomb.com”.  Ha ha ha ha.  Oh ladies.  You are too funny.  I did go over to “save him” although it was pretty funny seeing his laugh lines as he was trying to keep a straight face and tell them the difference between wine and mead.  So this post is dedicated to everyone who works those events.  You are truly thebomb.com because putting up with intoxicated folks when you are sober requires tremendous patience.
