The Hues of My Fancy

“I search for the realness, the real feeling of a subject, all the texture around it… I always want to see the third dimension of something… I want to come alive with the object.”
– Andrew Wyeth

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

I’ve always been far more attached to texture and personality of color than the name itself.

I like gray when it crackles its way through the galaxy.  I like saffron when it peeks out from behind or within other colors.  I like green when it wiggles and rawrs, and I like purple when it wrinkles.

Every hue has a story to me, and sometimes that story necessitates another color, or a very specific variation.

This picture represents one of my favorite palettes– brown, orange, saffron, and green.  To me, these tones seem alive– almost as if the little green leaf in this photo would wiggle if you touched it.

In fact, I rarely see these colors used without texture, substance, or dimensionality.  By their very nature, they are real.

So real, in fact, that they have the power to make even the most fanciful thoughts come to life . . .
