The “it is What It Is” Philosophy…

Posted on the 25 January 2012 by Drowqueen @theburnedhand

I know you have heard this phrase many times before, but did you know Albert Einstein said it?  Okay, so he didn’t say it exactly like that, but we’ll get to that in a moment.  As you have read, I don’t always have the best of luck.  I’m not sure why, but I started saying “it is what it is” to myself a lot.  I also follow the philosophy that others can learn from my mistakes, thus creating this blog.

We all have kindred spirits out there…people who for one reason or another, you feel immediately connected to.  These people help us get through life whether we meet in real life or connect with them through their words.  Sometimes their stories mirror our own.  Okay, so maybe not exactly, but close enough.

If you delve deeper into this saying, I can hear myself repeating it over and over like a mantra.  Hmmm, perhaps even B. K. S. Iyengar meant this when he said “Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.”  Furthermore, the guy that is attributed to actually writing the Serenity Prayer…also followed the “it is what it is” philosophy.  I’m sure these two were kindred spirits.

Last but not least, I will leave you with one more quote that I think is similar to the above sayings:

“A man should look for what is, and not for what he thinks should be.”  ~Albert Einstein (who was really saying “it is what it is”)
