The Secret About The Secret To Success

Posted on the 06 June 2016 by Sofia Essen @SofiaEssen

Hello there!

Today I want to talk a little about success.

Confession: I don’t have the secret to success.

The secret is that there’s no secret to success. There’s no failsafe one-size-fits-all formula for it. There’s no guaranteed shortcut to achieving your goals. There’s no nifty success app you can download from the internet. InstaSuccess has yet to be invented.

The only real path to success is to think big, start small, and keep going. And then keep going some more, through the ups and downs, through the obstacles standing in your way, and through the failures.

In a previous blog post I talked about the fear of failure.

Another  confession: I fail.

I know what I want and I’m willing to work hard to get it but I still fail. It frustrates and disappoints me. I feel crappy for a while. And that’s okay. I know it’s alright to acknowledge disappointment. So I vent my frustrations but I don’t give up.

I might take a break, a time out if you will, but I don’t give up.

I pause and evaluate the methods I’ve been using to achieve my goals but I don’t give up.

I change course if the direction I’ve been going in isn’t getting me where I want to go but I don’t give up.

I know what I’m capable of and I believe in myself. So I keep trying and failing, and trying some more. Each failure teaches me what doesn’t work and brings me closer to my goals. I’m using every failure as a stepping stone to success. In other words, I practice what I preach.

Thomas A. Edison said it differently but his message was the same. He said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

Today is Monday. It’s the beginning of a new week and the perfect time for a fresh start. Go out and start discovering what doesn’t work and don’t stop until you find out what does.

That’s all from me for now. Have a fantastic week ahead!
