The Secret Life of Bees
I've never written an actual book review for fear that I might not give a book the praises it deserves, and mostly because I am so lazy to write one especially that there are hundreds of reviews that can be found in the internet. So I won't. This will be just a promotion because I want you Blogger to go read this book because not only is it a heartwarming and empowering story for girls and women but also because it is so beautifully written I think Sue Monk Kidd is now one of my favorite authors, and a reminder for me to keep on reading.
I took photos of my favorite lines in the book because I'm too sluggish to write it down and I don't like highlighters on my novels hehe and this one is my top fave:
I hadn't been out to the hives before, so to start off she gave me a lesson in what she called "bee yard etiquette." She reminded me that the world was really one big bee yard, and the same rules worked fine in both places: Don't be afraid, as no life-loving bee wants to sting you. Still, don't be an idiot, wear long sleeves and long pants. Don't swat. Don't even think of swatting. If you feel angry, whistle. Anger agitates, while whistling melts a bee's temper. Act like you know what you're doing, even if you don't. Above all, send the bees love. Every little thing wants to be loved.
It's beautiful isn't it? I'm going to keep this book and will someday give it to my little girl or just let her borrow haha.
