The Weight of Time…

Posted on the 29 December 2012 by Bellshann @bellshann

So much to do, so little time! I’ve become a little lost over the past month and now I have a fair few assignments to catch up on. Not good. Today I’ve started on a studio based photography project that has been set as open choice. I can choose the genre and the theme. I guess this is really good, but when something is so open and broad my mind can think of nothing! However, I’ve come to the decision (I think) that my theme is going to be Life and Death. I want to portray life and death using objects, so it’ll be a still life piece. The ideas I’ve come up with so far is photographing the stages of a living thing dying…perhaps flowers, as they can represent so many different things, especially different times of ones life (birthdays, celebrations, illnesses, sorrow). Another idea related to flowers is to set them on fire, showing how you have no control over when you die.

I found this amazing website wellcomecollection.org…and they also have a blog, http://wellcomecollection.wordpress.com. It explores so many different stories in the world, it’s truly inspirational. One video really helped me with the project I’m working on now… Death – Life Before Death – Wellcome Collection.

I think we all feel the pressure of doing everything you desire in just one life time…but that doesn’t always happen and is often realised when it’s too late.
