Amazon

Amazon enthusiasts, if you’ve ever found yourself wishing that this online-shopping behemoth could consume even more of your time and money, then it looks like your prayers may soon be answered.

The online retailer recently announced plans to increase its staff at its secretive Silicon Valley-based facility at 27 percent over the next five years.  In case you’re not familiar with this facility, it’s where Amazon does it’s best impression of Google, and develop and test items such as the Kindle, or the yet to be released Internet-connected “smart” home gadgets.

Yes, you read that correctly.  While “smart” appliances are not entirely new, the products which Amazon claims to be working on would mean that you wouldn’t even have to find your phone, tablet, or computer in order to make online purchases.  For example, if you find that you’re low on detergent, you can simply hit the Amazon order detergent button which will be conveniently placed right next to your washing machine.

Of course, the next step is to remove that pesky button-pushing.  Why can’t your washing machine just order the detergent for you?  And while it’s at it, can it would be nice if it could let the fridge know that you’re running low on milk and eggs.

Now if we can just figure out how to get all those things from the door to their respective appliances with the push of a button…
