…Tick, Tick

…Tick, Tick

Here we are, on the cusp of a new year.  It’s a good time to start thinking about change, and if you’re like 50 percent of New Year’s resolution makers, you’re planning on hitting the gym a little more frequently in 2012.

No mistake, it’s a noble goal, trying to better yourself.  Trying to present the best “you” to the new year, it’s admirable.

It’s also a really tough resolution to stick with.  Most fall off the wagon in the first two weeks.

A tip for all you newbies planning on heading out to the gym this January 12th, positive reinforcement helps, but a little negative reinforcement (sort of) could be what gets you past that two week mark.

You see, those people who will be starring you down this Sunday as you try to navigate your way through the cardio and weight stations, they’ve been here all year.  In fact, they’ve been here for many years, and every year an army of resolute gym-goers, show up for the first few weeks of January and hog all the equipment.

Every year they wait patiently for the herd to thin out (and it does).  Now, wouldn’t it be nice to be a part of that group next year?

True, being healthy and fit should be motivation enough, but sometimes you need that extra push.  What better push could there be than the opportunity to be amongst the few.

So, get out there.  This is going to be your year.

Just remember, it’s not that we want you to fail, it’s just that you’re on our elliptical, and we want it back.
