It’s an unfortunate fact of life, that someone always gets left out, and that is especially true come award season. As Zer shared yesterday, there’s more than enough to be excited about around this year’s Golden Globe nominations, but not quite everyone was invited to Hollywood’s biggest party this year, and today, I honor the snubbed.
First, a few award darlings that were noticeably nowhere to be found included “Homeland” and “Mad Men,” but to be honest, the ones that hurt the most were “Modern Family” and “Downtown Abbey.” I’ll admit, part of me is glad that other shows are getting a chance to shine. It can be a bit tiresome seeing the same long running shows awarded over and over again, but none of those shows were “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” so it stings a little bit.
I mean really, how can you not nominate this theme song?
And its brilliance goes well beyond incredible opening credits. Don’t get me wrong. I appreciate all of the nominated comedies, they’re good shows. They’re also all borderline on the comedy definition. In fact, one of the shows, “Orange is the New Black,” is now categorized as a drama by the Emmys. (Yes, it’s because of the length of the show, which is silly and beside the point.)
My point is, wouldn’t it be nice if one of the comedy nominations was just pure sunshine and laughter?
