Honestly, when was the last time you even used a cucumber? I occasionally use cucumbers for my salads. Technically, they are considered a fruit, but whether you call them a fruit or vegetable, I found that they have many, unique everyday purposes for our household.
1. Soothe tired eyes: Slice ice-cold cucumber and place them over your eyes. Cucumbers has a hydrating effect and is composed of 90% water which works towards reducing puffiness around the eyes.
2. Cheapest facial: Dont have time or money for a facial? The easiest and most affordable facial is cutting up cucumbers and placing them in boiling water, the nutrients and chemicals will react with the boiling water which will be released in the steam leaving a nice smelling aroma, this is also great stress reliever.
3. Avoiding hangovers/ headaches: Cucumbers contain most of the vitamins you need every day, so eating a few slices before bed help replenish the essential nutrients that are lost and keeping the body in equilibruim.
4. “Green” cleaning: Want a safe, chemical-free way to bring shine back into your faucets, sink and stainless steel? Just take cucumber slices and simply rub them on the surface you want to clean, it will bring back the shine without harming you.
5. Erase Mistakes: Have your kids decorated the walls with pen marks and crayons, just use the outside of the cucumber to rub off and clean up the walls.
So now you have plenty of cucumber ideas other than the usual salad, especially when you have plenty of leftovers.
