Okay, kids, we're just over a day out from the grand finale of the closest thing we'll get to a water cooler moment of a show.
So let's all take a collective moment to soak in these final moments before we know how "Game of Thrones" ends (that includes you, people who are four seasons behind) and talk about "The Big Bang Theory."
Surprised? What better way to prepare for the finale of a widely watched and debated show than discussing another, which just happened to end a twelve-year run on Thursday.
For those keeping score, that's four more seasons than "Game of Thrones." But in television as in life, quantity does not always equal quality (**cough**Pushing Daisies**cough**).
However, in this case, "The Big Bang Theory" deserves a round of applause. I know there are those out there who didn't love the show and some who took offense at some of its characters. And those people are entitled to their opinion.
The fact still remains that this show managed to stay on the air for more than a decade. And it's going to be at least two years until Netflix revives it ... and then cancels it after three seasons. So let's take a moment to appreciate what it accomplished.
For 12 years they told consistently entertaining stories...
They created one of the greatest trio of comedic women on television...
And they did it while competing with Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, and everything else the streaming world has thrown at us.
All while spreading the gospel of "nerd culture," and yes, that includes you "Game of Thrones" fans...
There few moments of comic, sci-fi, and fantasy culture that didn't make it onto "The Big Bang Theory" over the last decade (and then some).
And yes, it poked some fun, but the enthusiasm always won out...particularly when flags were involved...
So, here's to a show that defied the odds and kept us laughing through it all and kept surprising us to the end.
...bi-daily smile...
