Update on the Syrian Civil War

From late September and well into November 2015, Russian military aircraft were flown during combat sorties (air strikes) against anti-government insurgent positions in Syria, causing “powerful explosions” on the ground there.   As of this writing, this military intervention may very well have killed thousands of people.   On October 7, 2015, Russian warships launched 26 SS-N-27 Sizzler cruise missiles from within the waters of the Caspian Sea toward enemy ground targets in Syria.   Units of the Syrian Army, Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah then launched a major ground offensive against anti-government insurgent forces (ISIS, al-Nusra Front, Free Syrian Army).   Truck-mounted multiple rocket launchers were employed in significant numbers during this offensive.   By this time, Russian military forces had already deployed limited numbers of BM-30 Smerch multiple launch rocket systems and T-90 main battle tanks to war torn Syria.   On Saturday October 31, 2015, a terrorist assault on Paris, the capital city of France, killed 129 people and wounded more than 350 others.   ISIS claimed responsibility for this attack soon afterwards.   In retaliation, French air strikes against ISIS positions in Syria intensified while an aircraft carrier of the French Navy was ordered to be deployed to within the waters of the (eastern) Mediterranean Sea, near the Syrian coast.   As of November 17, 2015, TU-160 Blackjack and TU-95 intercontinental bombers were being flown during combat sorties, from at least one military base in Russia, to effectively destroy high value ground targets in Syria.   Additional cruise missiles were launched by Russian naval forces from within the waters of both the (eastern) Mediterranean Sea and Caspian Sea.   This was in retaliation for the recent terrorist bombing of a Russian passenger jumbo jet over the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt, this historic atrocity having killed more than 220 people aboard this targeted civilian aircraft.   As of November 24, 2015, a Russian military aircraft had reportedly been intercepted and shot down within Turkish air space.   Russian President Vladimir Putin, a Soviet KGB Officer during the Cold War, then threatened “serious consequences” for this armed incident.   The ongoing Syrian Civil War ( 2011-2015-? ) may have killed as many as 300,000 people along with an undetermined number of animals, while under President Bashar Assad regime.  We hope and pray for a Peaceful resolution and a  final end to the Civil war in Syria not only for the Syrian people but for ALL of Humanity.
