May the fourth be with you, and a very happy Star Wars Day to all!
If none of that made sense to you, I have some bad news–you’re not a nerd. Even worse, you don’t have a strong nerd presence in your life.
There was a time when that would be considered a good thing, but lets face it, nerds run the world, and there no longer afraid to let their nerd flags fly.
So, back to Star Wars, which is what today is really about. What started as a nerdy pun has turned into a full-blown holiday. Seriously, there are special sales and everything.
With all the attention it’s received, it can be easy to forget the true meaning of the holiday — Star Wars!
Okay, it may not sound exceptionally deep, but hear me out.
For nearly 40 years, Star Wars has been an important part of pop and nerd culture. It’s taught us many lessons, a few of which include…
…the power of the force, and choosing hope over fear…
…not to judge a book by its cover…
…and, of course, how cool lightsabers are.
But seriously, Star Wars has shared a great deal of wisdom for a story that’s from a long time ago and a far away galaxy. Given today’s political climate, it may be more relevant and important than ever.
On that note, I’ll leave you with some words of wisdom from everyone’s favorite Jedi.
“Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
Yoda, “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace”
