Fat Free Vegan
Run by Susan Voisin, a lady of monstrous talent and good taste, this site is chock-full of vegan recipes with little to no added oil. I noticed she also uses very little added sugar, and when she does, she usually opts for the maple syrup/date paste/honey thing (whole sugars, not refined sugars).
This is seriously the first place I check any time I need a recipe, meaning I'm there almost every day.
She also has a handy-dandy "recipe box" feature where you can save all the recipes you liked or want to try!
She also has a cookbook available:
Minimalist Baker
John and Dana are a husband and wife blogging team who make just...just the most DELICIOUS vegan food, you guys.
Awesome points: Portlanders.
Now I haven't combed through every recipe so I'm not sure every single thing on there is 100% vegan. But they have a TON of recipes that are, and they label a lot of them "vegan" so you can be sure of those ones.
And god damn, are they good.
It should be noted that when I compiled the thousands of vegan mac n "cheese" recipes I read to come up with my own, I used the most from Dana's recipe. I recommend it.
They, too, have a cookbook you can purchase, albeit digital:
31 Meals
Post Punk Kitchen
This is Isa Chandra Moscowitz' website, otherwise known as most awesome vegan cookbook writer EVER.
Seriously, she is the one responsible for the following:
The Veganomicon
Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the WorldVegan with a Vengeance
Vegan Pie in the Sky
Isa Does It
...and more.
I wouldn't call the recipes healthy, but if you'd be eating shit like this anyway except you're doing the vegan version, then it's still healthier.
And also delicious. I especially recommend both The Veganomicon and her dessert books. And if you don't want to buy a book, she does share recipes on her website!
Most recommended of the cookbooks:
That's the Veganomicon and Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World. And some weirdo.
Kiss Me, I'm Vegan!
Lindsay at Kiss Me, I'm Vegan! talks a lot about vegan lifestyle, reasons to go vegan, advocacy, support, etc.
She's also darling, as evidenced by this photo of her by Michelle Bartelle.
She answers reader questions in a page dedicated just to that, like Dear Abby for plant-eaters, and I really like that about her style.
Her blog began to take off after she wrote a guest post for Alicia Silverstone's website, The Kind Life (which is pretty damn cool--I'd love to do something like that)!
She also sometimes does reviews and giveaways, so keep your eyes open for that!
Happy Cow
While they also have recipes and veg topics and a shop and such, the thing that makes Happy Cow so fucking fantastic is their restaurant directory.
In Norfolk, VA and desperately need something vegan in your face? Type it in and they'll tell you where the nearest restaurant with vegan options is (in Norfolk, probably Indian or...not in Norfolk).
In Amsterdam? Rio? Tangier? Dubai? They've got you covered there too.
It's kind of a giant lifesaver. I recommend saving this site on both your computer AND your phone, because there's a giant chance you'll need it on the go.
And yes, there is an app:
HappyCow Mobile
