Happy Chinese New Year, crusaders! Welcome to the Year of the Rooster.
As in many cultures, Chinese tradition associates the rooster with the sun, and those whose zodiac sign is the rooster are courageous and detailed when describing things. It’s definitely a positive outlook for the coming year…in the right context.
As the rooster heralds the morn, it’s also seen as a sign of punctuality, a wake-up call to remind us that it’s time to get up and go to work. I think 2017 would agree…
For those who truly celebrate the lunar new year, this is day one of a 15-day celebration during which the honoring of ancestors plays a key role. For the rest of us, it’s a good reminder to honor our roots, remember our history, and perhaps learn from it.
Bonus Fun Fact: Rooster is also sometimes translated as chicken, an animal that has been known to exorcise evil spirits.
Finally, a happy and prosperous new year to all!
…bi-daily smile…
