Are you responsible for wiping out the habitat of orangutans, tigers and elephants?
Think not?
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) released a report yesterday alleging that Asia Pulp & Paper (APP) is clearcutting the home of these endangered species.
And to make it even worse, a large portion of their product is going straight to the crapper, literally.
Yes, at least two U.S. brands are made from APP supplied paper.
If you’re running to check your Charmin or Cottenelle for any signs of animal genocide, fear not, you’re in the clear (for now).
However, if you are a loyal user of Paseo or Livi products (I haven’t heard of them either), shame on you.
Don’t worry, I’m sure the treeless orangutans will forgive you eventually. A handwritten apology note wouldn’t hurt. Just make sure it’s not written on their favorite climbing tree.
And the next time you find yourself in the paper products aisle, remember to take a moment and think about what you’re really wiping out.
