Wreck It

Posted on the 11 November 2012 by Piaiamps

I went out with three of the few good people in my life, which almost didn't happen because I was too lazy to go. It all started with my comment on my Facebook photo asking Tianne if she's seen Wreck It Ralph already. If you know your friends well, you'd know whom to invite to a particular event or matter. I've known Tianne for years as we both went to the same college though it was only during our first year in law school that we actually knew each other. I have this belief that we were destined to be friends. I regard her as my quasi-best friend haha. Anyway, I was of course acquainted with movies that tickles Tianne's fancy. So she said okay and asked if I'm available this Saturday. I said yes but not within 6-8PM as I have a class during that period. She didn't comment back. I thought she "backed out". Then earlier today, she asked to confirm about the movie date. And I was surprised because, as I mentioned before, she didn't comment back, so there really was no meeting of the minds to speak of haha. I freaked out because I was already home playing dotA and too lazy tired to travel back to the city. I told her I'm not going and asked for a reschedule haha. Ako nang nang-invite, ako pang umayaw! Fortunately, my friend is very persistent and persuaded me to go with the plan because we have no more time to watch movies in the future, which I of course agree. Then suddenly, Mark texted if I was meeting him because apparently, Tianne told him that I wanted a meetup hahaha. I freaked out again because I thought it was only me and her. And when she called later she told me that kuya Thirdie was going too. Okay, double date.
I arrived late. They were already there waiting for me while viewing Princess Velasco's backdrop. I instantly felt excluded when I saw them all in black! Thanks friends. It's like I'm the only one who didn't get the memo. Off we went to feed ourselves. What I hate about going out with friends is that it's too long to decide on things. We argued about where to eat: cheap or expensive, posh or fast food. But since there were three of us (I, Tianne and Mark) who came from a subsidized university that always cries injustice whenever there's a tuition hike, we immediately replied fast food. We ended up at Shakey's which according to kuya Thirds isn't a fast food.

After our heavy meal, we went up for the main event debate: what movie to watch. Honestly, there should be no argument about it because Wreck It Ralph was the movie that I wanted to watch with Tianne. But kuya Thirds has this intricate taste on things, particularly on movies. He doesn't watch low quality, mostly those made in the Philippines, and childish movies which means Wreck It Ralph. But again it was 3 versus 1 hahaha. So childish movie it is!
The movie wasn't great but it wasn't that bad either. I was regularly looking at kuya's reaction all throughout. I was glad the movie didn't go juvenile to the end. It was fun, albeit childish. And I thought everyone had fun, including kuya Thirds.

I missed you!

Wreck It
It was the last full show so the mall was empty when we got out. It was my first time to be out at night in years! Tianne texted me when she got home that she's not a hugger but she hugged me while saying goodbye because she actually missed me. See, some people love me.
It was sad how my night ended though, because some guy went all judgmental about people who get home late. He defended himself saying he was just kidding; but one gets his jokes from real stories or feelings. I hope he knew I was almost always out until 4AM tops back in college. There truly are people who were programmed to wreck things. It gets more hurtful if that person knows you way better than everyone else yet still finds it necessary to destroy everything. Kebs na nga lang. I'm bad and that's good. I will never be good and that's not bad. There's no one I'd rather be, but me.
To everyone who's feeling a bit down right now because some jerk made you feel less about yourself, or who's just a downright wrecker, here are penguins to make you happy. Cheers to good friends, good movies and people who wreck things! Go out and watch Wreck It Ralph!
