Robert Lee Brewer, editor for Writer's Digest and blogger at My Name is Not Bob, is a wealth of information for those pursuing writing careers. One of his recent posts was titled The 8 Jobs of Modern Writer. Super helpful, and it made me face facts: I need to be a better accountant, file clerk, speaker, and negotiator; I feel pretty good about honing and prioritizing my writing, editing, copywriting, and marketing.
His matter-of-fact style and information helps kick me in the butt regularly, like Social Media Etiquette for Writers, including what I feel is the most important rule to follow: "Remember to build relationships, not numbers." I post things about creativity, inspiration, motivation, other writers and works, and links to my published articles, so I look for bloggers and Twerps to follow that are connected to one of these in some way because I want them to feel that the relationship is mutually beneficial.
