I started following Weronika Janczuk's blog/website after I received a kind response to a nonfiction book proposal that I pitched to her. While some of the agents and publishers I contacted responded with " " (aka nothing), a couple of not-so-nice nos, and a couple of really nice "great idea, but not right for me right now." Weronika fell into the last camp, with a very kind series of messages praising the idea. This was the first time that I felt like maybe, just maybe, I really do have good, legitimate ideas that can actually be developed into salable books.
Besides this personal ego boost, Weronika's gives great advice and insight into the literary world. She also tells us what she's reading, what she's looking for, and what industry trends are currently. She is funny, insightful, and just darn delightful. How can you not like a site that is named after this great Mark Twain quote:
"The difference between the almost right word & the right word is really a large matter--it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning."
