I might have chosen the word “discipline” but so many people I have worked with have such negative attachments to that word, we’ll start, instead, with Devotion.
To lead a passionate life, devotion to yourself and your purpose is paramount. If there is no devotion there, nothing happens.
It is like proclaiming, “I am so passionate for awakening!” and then immediately falling asleep.
You can feel devotion well up in you when someone asks you about a particular topic and not only do you speak with unfettered delight, you have actually DONE something with that delight – and that something you have done has been remarkably distant from lukewarm.
I hear some people proclaim, “It’s easier said than done.” And I say, “With passion, it’s easier done than said!”
If you can match each moment of excitement with productivity devoted to your passion, a passionate life is a given.
If you only match each moment of excitement with dreaming about it or talking more about it without taking passionate action, your life will stay the same.
Maybe for you, right now, that works.
Please remember, though – the path to passion includes whole-hearted, head-over-heels devotion.
