5 Books I recommend off my Bookrack

I am back with a collection of books that I recommend off my bookrack. All these books possess a special something that has made an impact on me. Being the philanthropist that I am, I wish to endow you with the same wealth that I have acquired through these pages of Gold. Here we go:

Empire of the Moghul by Alex Rutherford
My bias for Historical fiction has indeed played a part in me recommending this series. But that doesn’t belittle how the Authors (Alex Rutherford is the pen name of Diana Preston and her husband Michael) have done justice to the Moghuls and delved deep into the struggles and conquests of this dynasty starting from Babur. Beautifully worded and breathtakingly pictured for the user to be transported back to the times of the rulers whose stories brushed us by during boring history sessions back in school!

Ross KempGangs II
I love Gangster movies! So it is only natural that when Ross Kemp (remember the documentary on Street Gangs) came out with a book on the most deadly and notorious gangs in the world, I pounced on it. The book provides a peek into some of the world’s most dangerous gangs including Polish Neo Nazi Football gangs, Kenya’s Mungiki (with an interesting insight on Kenya’s Glue Kids), Colombian, Liverpool gangs and of course LA’s Reds and Blues.

Inside an Elusive Mind: Prabhakaran by M.R.Narayan Swamy
As somebody who has been keenly following Sri Lanka and its bloody civil war over the past decade, I have been fascinated by the rise and fall of the LTTE under its mercurial leader Velupillai Prabhakaran. In this biography of the world’s most ruthless and powerful Guerrilla leader, Mr. Narayanswamy paints the picture of a single man’s path of building a powerful army in search of a solution against an unequal, unfair and ethnically partial state (only to be undone by his own violence and terror). A gripping read.

Arthur HaileyDetective
As I have mentioned earlier, Arthur Hailey is the master of research. He is the one who made me realize the importance of researching for anything that I write. This book highlights the fruits of a well researched book as Arthur takes you through the life of a Detective caught in the web of a Serial Killer’s confession. A must read for budding writers! Read it and learn from it.
