A Monkey Could Do This

There are times at work where I can't help but look around and wonder if this is one huge joke.
One of my first tax returns at this place was an easy partnership. I was in the "this place sucks, screw it" mindset when I received it so I blew it off for three weeks, did a sloppy job, forgot to file an extension (woops), and likely over-billed the client.
And the manager who asked me to do this first return came back and assigned 15 more tax returns to me.
Wow, really?
The HR partner went on her rounds shortly after and stopped at my desk. "Elle, I love to pass on the great feedback I've heard from people and wanted to let you know you did a great job on (Shitty tax return)!"
Apparently the very mistaken manager told my office managing partner (the head honcho) that I did a great job on this tax return.
This has to be a joke, otherwise I'm going to be cruising on one brain cell for the rest of tax season. Hello Easy Street.
