Abandoned

The boy could not remember since when the pup had begun to accompany him everywhere. They were often sighted together, walking along the seashore, looking for scraps of food, looking at the colorful people, looking at the sunset. A companionship formed due to a mutual feeling of being abandoned at a young age. Presently, he called after the pup as it ran towards the road; then ran after it. But he was a minute too late. He saw his only friend smashed to a pulp on the road while an inconsiderate driver drove away, the tyres leaving blood-soaked tracks.
