I just got back from a great trip out to Colorado to watch my little sister race in the Aspen Winternational World Cup. Last year I went to Lake Louise World Cup with my mom and this year the whole family made the trip to cheer Julia on!
My whole family (mom, dad, Lily, Willie and me) crammed into a small hotel room for the weekend. It was nice and cozy with our sh*t everywhere! But, that is how my family rolls. We don’t care about a nice hotel room or fancy restaurants; we care about being together and exploring new places.
[sidenote: I like nice hotels and fancy food, but when I'm with my family small hotel rooms and pub food is a-ok!]
It is so cool to see Julia as a professional athlete! To me, she will always be my goofy little sister, but to many she is a role model and one of the best US skiers in the world!
She does autograph signings and press events! She is friends with Lindsey Vonn and sits next to her like it’s no big deal!
The weather and conditions were awesome at Aspen! It was blue sky the whole time we were there although we didn’t get to ski because there really wasn’t much snow any where besides the race trail.
And, the race trail looked beautiful.
Julia did not finish her race, she fell about half way down the course, but she went out charging and that is better than feeling like she could of done more. She has a sprained ankle and a sore back, so for her to go out and compete was a fete in and of itself!
Julia giving post-race interviews!
I made an effort to get some exercise in everyday. I explored the trails and bike paths all around Aspen. They were incredible. That town is so active and there are so many ways to get outside and do something! It makes me a tiny bit envious to those who live out there.
After a great trip, we wished Julia good luck and crammed into our little car to fly home to Boston. Julia is off to Lake Louise for more races, be sure to cheer her on!
