I posted this picture to Facebook sometime last week, after being on the boat all day and coming home with the most intense array of bruises I’ve ever seen. My blood chemistry has been strange during this long-term sleep deprivation process and although I’ve always bruised easily, I’m worse than a soft banana right now.
My mom calls me almost instantly after I uploaded the picture, asking me “Did you give yourself those bruises? Because they look like the bruises you were giving yourself in college when you were self-injuring.” I assured her that these were organic, all the while staring at the long scab on my right shin (not pictured) from my most recent cutting episode. Strange, how these things work.
