Because I Care… 5 Tips!

As a newly appointed would-be recruiting apprentice… It is my duty to be brave, loyal, and true“.

In doing so, I must report my findings. Upon successful completion of my first resume pre-screening, I have 5 quick tips.  I know resume writing can be a bit tricky, so feel free to take heed or disregard.

(Although, I’d prefer you take heed for the betterment of all parties involved.)

Dear Post-Collegiate Career Seekers,

1. Please feel free to not advertise a 2.62 GPA in bold typeface on your resume. (My GPA standards may be high, but unless you’re a chemical physics major, I’d say highlight your strengths and discuss the low GPA during the interview if it comes up.)

2. Please feel free to condense your 3.5-page, stapled resume. (Call me old-fashioned, but I love the look of a crisp and concise one-pager.)

3. Please feel free to not type, “I currently don’t have any at the moment” under the Work Experience section of your resume. (I’m pretty sure you do have something to showcase here, but in the event you don’t… Omit and highlight other strengths as aforementioned in Tip 1.)

4. Please feel free to increase your 7-point resume font. (I mean really?)

5. Please feel free to not title your resume. (ever) More specifically, please do not type “Resume” at the top of your resume.  (We know it’s a resume without a title.)

Well, that’s the extent of my “two cents”, for now… Hope it helps!
