Bikram Thoughts

Posted on the 17 April 2012 by Mattie @comfyconfident

I did Bikram yoga last night. It was impressive I went because I am pretty sure I thought of every excuse possible not to go.

  • It’s so nice outside, I should go for a long walk
  • I just got a new Self Magazine, I should read that and ellipticize
  • The class is 90 minutes… by the time I get there, practice, do Shavasana, change and leave it’s a good two hours later
  • I have to do laundry afterwards because my clothes get drenched in sweat
  • I have not drank enough water today, I will get dizzy.
  • I just ate way too much food. I will feel sick.
  • I’m tired.

What actually got me to go to class was that my card expires in May and I have 3 classes left. I am too cheap to let those 3 classes go to waste. So, I went! And I am so happy I did! :)

Bikram Thoughts

It was so great to sweat and stretch and just be. It was so hott in there though. It was by far the hottest I have been in a Bikram class. I think it was because of the heat and humidity outside in combination with the heat in the room. My face was beat read and my heart was racing. Guess that means I got a good work out.  I was glad I had Nuun to hydrate with after class. Taking a couple weeks months off can leave you feeling very dehydrated. But I felt so refreshed and balanced after class. I honestly love yoga.

Bikram Thoughts

As always thanks you Jenn for organizing this fabulous WIAW party.

After class there is a Hannaford’s across the street. I was craving snacky sweet & salty food, so I thought I would go check out the bins!! I am obsessed with the bins. I love everything in them. I could live on the food in the bins! I swear.

The trail mix options and salty mixed nuts are the hardest for me to resist. I could just keep eating handfuls of it all day, good thing I only allow myself to put a couple scoops into my baggy.

The yogurt [and chocolate] covered treats (they have yogurt [and chocolate] covered peanuts, pretzels, almonds, and blueberries), are a great sweet snack.

And you can’t forget the dried fruit. Banana chips, mangoes and pineapples top my list of favorites.

Of course, there are the beans, pastas and rice that are also in the bins, but they are not nearly as fun as the food you can eat almost immediately after purchasing. Sometimes, I challenge myself to go into Hannaford’s and do an entire grocery shop without getting anything from the bins. It is really hard for me to accomplish this. I really just love snacking so much and the bins facilitate it way too much.

Questions:
What is your favorite thing to get out of the bins?
Are you a snacking? How do you stop snacking!? I could use some tips!! :)
