My little Brownie going door to door selling Girl Scout Cookies for the very 1st time.
My daughter is a first year Brownie, which means that this is her first cookie season selling the infamous Thin Mints, Tagalongs, Samoas and more. I am getting a real kick seeing her in her first real business training trying to pitch the cookies to all who will listen. She’s doing well. We’re two days in, and she’s sold over 50 boxes. I think that’s pretty good for a first try!
Girl Scout cookies have changed over the years. I don’t mean the cookies themselves have changed. I mean the sale of those delectable little treasures have changed.
Firstly, you don’t have to wait weeks for the cookies to arrive. Nowadays, we sell “cookies on demand,” meaning that we ( the GS Moms) have to commit to taking boxes of cookies that we are responsible for. I took 72 boxes, and I’m almost already through them. Of course, I will take more cookies to sell. It’s amazing how fast they go!
There is also another really awesome addition to the Girl Scout cookie sales that the organization now does. The “I’m on a diet” excuse no longer works for the customers who do not want to buy. If a customer chooses to, the Girl Scouts of America will send cookies to troops overseas. How awesome is that?
Yes, Girl Scout cookies are an American institution, and I am thrilled to have my daughter be a part of it. So, if you are local and need cookies, I know an adorable little Brownie who would love to sell them to you.
My song of the day is the only one that it could be. Cookie Monster singing “C is for Cookie” seems like it should have been made for the Girl Scouts. Click HERE to listen, and perhaps it will tempt you into buying all of that delicious Girl Scout goodness. C’mon…you know you want to!
