Camp NaNoWriMo Day 8

Posted on the 08 July 2013 by Kittyfairy @KittyFairy

Camp NaNoWriMoSo, it’s Camp NaNoWriMo Day 8 and I hadn’t quite expected to be so positive. I’m so positive about my story, and how it is going and even how easily the words are flowing, that I am starting to wish that I had opted for a higher overall word count. However, in reality, I’m glad that I gave myself a realistic one, because it is so difficult to predict how the month is going to pan out.

So, without further ado, here is my current word count (noting that I haven’t written anything today – yet!):

As you can see from the Chart that depicts where I should be word count-wise, and where my current word count lies, you can truly appreciate why I’m feeling so positive about things, at the moment:

It is of course still early since, as I said, it’s only Camp NaNoWriMo Day 8. However, I’ve amazed myself with how easily the story has come to me, with one character in particular. And the weirdest thing about this particular character is the fact that he is a “he”, and by reputation I am absolutely terrible with portraying male characters – especially in first person, and yet I feel like I get into his head better than I get into anyone else’s. This is kind of weird, right?

Then again, some of my favorite books with a male lead, have been written by a woman:

  • Harry Potter
  • Adrian Mole

Therefore, maybe it’s not so weird after all.

Camp NaNoWriMo always seems to be quieter across the internet, especially compared to the main event of NaNoWriMo that takes place in November, so I’m having a tough time gauging who is actually taking part this month.

Are you taking part? How are you doing?
